Zinc Oxide Applications as a Multifunctional Material

Because of its diverse properties, both chemical and physical, Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is widely used in many areas. ZnO technology is evolving continuously to meet new end-uses. Zinc Oxide powder has conventionally been used as a white pigment and as an additive to rubber. While it is largely used in other fields but its usage in rubber remains very important. There have been significant changes recently in the ZnO industry and owing to its multipurpose industrial use it also plays an important role in a very wide range of applications, ranging from tires to ceramics, from pharmaceuticals to agriculture, and from paints to chemicals. Therefore, it is clear that there are myriad of practical uses of ZnO. Here we provide a review of various Zinc oxide applications leading to its use in many industries. Apart from the applications mentioned above, Zinc Oxide can also be used in other industries as mentioned below-: Rubber Industry ZnO is the most effective activator to speed up the rate of rubber vulcanization. It is specifically effective in gelation of foam when latex foam rubber product is manufactured. Due to its high stability (resistance) in heat, it is largely used for tire manufacturing. Inks and Pigments ZnO is also used for the production of offset inks. It imparts good printing properties. Zinc Oxide is also used in pigments to produce shine. Food Industry Added to many food products, including breakfast cereals. ZnO is used as a source of Zinc, which is an essential nutrient. Also used in the process of producing and packing meat products and vegetable products. It suppresses the development and growth of fungi and moulds on the food materials. Animal Feed Zinc oxide is widely used to supply zinc for animal nutrition in prepared feeds. It exerts a positive action on the animal’s health as it supports the correct growth of animals. As cattle feed, it is mixed in the diet or the drinking water for the animals. Lubricator Zinc Oxide is used for the production of certain specialized lubricants and grease formulations. ZnO and its derivatives are also used as an additive to car lubricating oils. As is clear that ZnO is a multifunctional material. It has many interesting properties like high photo stability, biocompatibility and biodegradability that make it a very useful component in many core industries as explained above. Upper India is a proud Manufacturer of ZnO Powder and we are running two manufacturing units in India successfully. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Ways to improve and augment actions to have a Healthy Lifestyle

Healthy living is the call of today’s society. Everyone wants to live healthy but due to the kind of lifestyle nowadays, it becomes challenging. It is important that we target on ways to improve and augment actions in our life to have a healthy lifestyle.Though we cannot always focus on all the components leading to good health but let’s talk about the major ones. In addition to the tips for healthy living, the article will also mention about avoiding actions (the don’ts) that lead to unhealthy living. “Healthy living” not only constitutes the physical health but also mental. A person is said to be living healthy when both these aspects are in balance or functioning well together in a person. Physical and mental health are closely linked, a change (good or bad) in one directly affects the other. All humans have to eat food for growth and maintenance of a healthy body. Developing healthy eating habits is not that confusing or as limiting as many people imagine. Here are certain guidelines for building a healthy diet. Consume Variety Eating a wide selection of foods is the best way to get all of the disease-fighting potential that foods offer. Keep an Eye on Portions Portion control is the key for higher-calorie foods. Eating mindfully, the chances are less that one will eat foods that the body requires less. Eat Plenty of Produce Include green, orange, red, blue/purple and yellow produce. The nutrients in these foods may help protect against certain types of cancer and other diseases. Get More Whole Grains Whole grains retain nearly all the nutrients and fiber of the grain, so at least half your grains should be whole grains, such as whole wheat, barley and oats. Limit Refined Grains, Added Sugar These have little or no dietary fiber and have been stripped of many nutrients hence reducing their consumption is a wise decision. Cut Down on Animal Fat Replace saturated fats with “good” fats found in nuts, fish and vegetable oils. Limit Alcohol If you drink, do so in moderation. People with certain medical conditions should avoid alcohol altogether. Enjoy Your Food Be mindful of what you eat, which may help you eat less and enjoy your food more.

Leading Zinc Oxide Industry in India with Striking Global Presence

The demand of Zinc in India is anticipated to remain strong in the coming years due to the growth in the key Zinc consuming industries like infrastructure, manufacturing etc. Zinc is the most widely used metal after Steel, Aluminum & Copper. The Zinc Oxide industry in India is in the middle of the serious expansion programme. It is expected that by 2020, India would require Zinc capacity of 14 lakh tons per annum in order to be self- reliant. Zinc Oxide – Properties and Applications for Industrial Rubbers

Zinc Oxide (ZnO)

Zinc Oxide; represented with the formula ZnO is an inorganic compound, white in color and water-insoluble. Though naturally found, most ZnO used commercially is synthetic. Commonly used in treating skin irritations and in medical ointments but in present times, its usage has transcended to industries like rubber, cosmetics, glass & ceramics, agriculture, and other chemicals to mention a few.

Properties of Zinc Oxide that make it popular for the Rubber Industry

Vulcanization of Rubber

As mentioned above, ZnO is the most effective activator to speed up the rate of rubber vulcanization.

Latex Gelation

Zinc Oxide is specifically effective in gelation (solidification by freezing) of the foam. Therefore, it gives enough stability in the gelation of foam when latex foam rubber product is manufactured.

Heat Stabilization

Zinc oxide has very high stability (resistance) in heat. So, it is largely used for tire manufacturing so that the tires are safe even at high temperature due to high speed.

Light Stabilization

Zinc Oxide is superb for its absorption of ultraviolet rays. So, when it is used with the rubber tyres, it gives them that extra stability against destructive UV rays of the sunlight. Zinc oxide is specially used with tinted rubber as it requires extra stability.

Pigmentation

Due to high brightness and proper particle size, ZnO is widely mixed with rubber products to make them look even more whitish. This use of ZnO as a pigment is made in various rubber made medical surgery equipment, rubber sheeting and side walls of the tyre.

Applications of Zinc Oxide for Rubber Industry

Rubber products represent the largest market for Zinc Oxide. ZnO is a widely used compound in rubber industry due to the excellent properties it shows as an activator for vulcanization of rubber. Vulcanization is a chemical process for converting natural rubber into a more durable material. Therefore, ZnO adds strength to rubber compounds and improves their resistance against heat/ abrasion and helps guard against ultraviolet degradation. The huge importance of Zinc Oxide to rubber industry is due to so many optical, physical and chemical properties it has. Tires, for example, require high loading of ZnO for durability and high heat conductivity. This is because heat building in tires at high speed is critical. Zinc Oxide is the key ingredient with 50-60% being used in rubber industry alone and with a marked presence in India and Global market as a leading manufacturer and exporter of a comprehensive range of Zinc Oxide products, Upper India has been successful in meeting the emerging market demands accurately. Know the True Facts and Benefits of Zinc Oxide

Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound that occurs as a white powder in nature. Commonly known as Zinc white, this inorganic chemical has the formula ZnO and it is insoluble in water. UI Zinc Oxide is synthesized by heating Zinc in the air for commercial applications. Zinc Oxide is abundantly found as a mineral zincite that becomes yellow on heating and also gets dissolved in the acidic mixture breaking down into respective salts. This multi-functional compound has high chemical stability and exhibits rich micro-nutrient properties Continue reading “Know the True Facts and Benefits of Zinc Oxide”
